Health Education

Innovation Academy Charter School believes that the social, emotional and physical development of students is as important as academic development. To that end all middle school students participate in Health Education classes.

The curriculum is divided into four strands: physical health, social/emotional health, safety and prevention and personal and community health. It is designed to support and encourage students to maintain and improve their health, prevent disease, and reduce health-related risk behaviors.

Students have Health Education Classes 2x/week for one-half of the school year.

Curriculum Frameworks
IACS follows the recommended Massachusetts Comprehensive Health Curriculum Frameworks to guide our planning and instruction for Health in grades 5-8. These standards can be viewed here.
