The Environmental News Network (ENN) provides global environmental news coverage and commentary, combining some original content with articles from wire services and other publications.

Environmental Health News

Environmental Health News provides sweeping global coverage of environmental issues that affect human health, drawing on a wide range of U.S. and international news sources for a daily list of links to the best environmental health coverage worldwide.

People & the Planet is an online magazine published by Planet 21, an independent nonprofit company based in the United Kingdom. The organization has an impressive board and the sponsorship of organizations such as the United Nations Population Fund and the World Conservation Union.

Earth Policy Institute

The Earth Policy Institute was founded by Lester Brown, one of the most enlightened and influential environmental thinkers of our time. The purpose of the organization is “to provide a vision of what an environmentally sustainable economy will look like, a roadmap of how to get from here to there, and an ongoing assessment … of where progress is being made and where it is not.” The Earth Policy Institute publishes regular articles and reports focused on those issues.

U.S. Newspapers

When you’re looking for environmental news, don’t overlook your daily newspaper. Your hometown paper is likely to cover environmental issues close to home that affect your local community. Major newspapers such as The New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Los Angeles Times often provide good environmental news coverage on a national and international scale.

International News Sources

When you’re looking into global issues, it pays to get a global perspective, so be sure to read some of the best international news sources regularly. For example, the BBC Science and Nature section offers excellent worldwide environmental coverage. For a more comprehensive list of international news sources, see the list compiled by Jennifer Brea, About guide to World News.

News Aggregators

The increasing popularity of the Internet has given rise to news aggregators, which compile content from many different news sources and deliver a collection of links to relevant stories on the topics of your choice. Two of the best and most popular are Google News and Yahoo News.

Government Agencies

Government agencies charged with overseeing environmental quality or managing issues that affect the environment also offer news and a wide range of consumer resources. In the United States, the EPA, the Energy Department, and NOAA are among the top government sources for environmental news. Always take agency news with a grain of salt, of course. Besides protecting the environment, these agencies also provide public relations for the current administration.
