Reaction, Revolution, Reform Project Overview & Rubrics

In this project, students will explore the causes of and events surrounding the American Revolution and early United States government.  Students will focus their revolutionary investigation through the lens of a fictional colonial character.  For their final project, they will assemble a scrapbook of journal entries, newspaper clippings, and other artifacts belonging to their character.  Scrapbook components will show understanding of colonial life, causes of the American Revolution, battles fought, democracy, and the three branches of government.

Essential Questions:

  • How does change happen in a society?
  • What is the role of the individual in making change?
  • What is the role of the government in making change?
