It talks about the freedom and happiness of finally owning a car, and it also talks about the difficulties of repairing it and getting it out of the snow (which is a wicked big issue if you're from New England). The main idea for the song was inspired from a jam session that took place early in the morning of Monday, June 15. Whiman started playing a catchy bassline and was quickly joined by Knight who added melody. The song started to take shape when Renau added his ill rhymes to the mix adding a funky hip hop feel to the riff. Finished off by an undeniably catchy and innovative guitar riff by Sullivan the basis for the final song was formed. An extra chorus part was later added and perfected with the incredible vocal talents of Michaela Gierke to finish the song off. In a matter of four days "Sun Roof Down" was completed. Many thanks to Garageband for contributing autotune-pitch-correction so Ben Knight and Michaela Gierke could sound like T-Pain. Lyrics: |
