After School Art

The final 8 week session for after school art begins the week after February break and is offered on either Monday or Tuesday from 3:00 - 4:30. The class is set up as an open studio, where students can work with a wide variety of media to create work independently or with others. The cost for the program is $60. Space is limited, so sign up early. Please send registration form and payment to MS After School Art Class via the main office.

Band

Band is a fun extracurricular activity that meets after school twice a week until 4:30. Students who have never played a band instrument before can join beginner band, which meets on Mondays and Thursdays -- no previous experience on an instrument or reading music is required! Students who have played a band instrument before for at least one year can join advanced band, which meets on Tuesdays and Fridays. Instruments students can choose from are flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion. Email Ms. Destramp for more information or to sign up!

Chorus

Middle School Chorus is pleased to announce our new season starting on Tuesday, September 15th after school from 3:00-4:30. Our class meets in room 146 in the high school and is free of charge! We meet every Tuesday and Thursday, and any student in grades 5-12 is welcome to attend. Email smitchell@innovationcharter.org with further questions. We hope to see you there!

Garden Club

"The Hawkmoths" is our Middle School garden club! We make and conserve habitat for butterflies and pollinators, learn about native plants and gardening techniques, and actively beautify our school grounds. Come join us to learn about conservation and nature and have a great time being in the great outdoors!

We meet out in the garden by the Landberg Hall on good weather days and in the Landberg Hall conference room on rainy or freezing days. The meeting times are early release Wednesdays at 12:30-2:30pm, and full Wednesdays 3-4pm.

Literary Magazine

Calling all artists and writers! Looking to find a place to publish your work?
We're looking for editors and anyone interested in putting together a literary magazine for the year. This is a yearlong commitment, and we are looking for students in good academic standing, who are hardworking and dedicated to publish a literary magazine by the end of the year.
The Literary Magazine Committee will meet on Thursdays after school from 3:00-4:00 PM in Room 408.
Mr. Pisco is the Literary Magazine Advisor.
Meetings begin on Thursday, October 1, 2015.
To join, return a signed permission slip to Mr. Pisco.

Yearbook Committee

Technology and Robotics Club

The second session of the MS Technology & Robotics Club will meet on the following five Mondays: February 8th, 22nd, 29th and March 7th and 14th. Students have a choice of activities, including the opportunity to build and program robots using Lego Mindstorms, or make Artbotics (art that responds to its environment using sensors and motors). Students may need to share a robot so sign up with a friend! Alternatively, students can try out Android App Inventor, which is on-line software for making android apps, and test them on android tablets. Club meets from 3:00-4:30 (Mondays) in room 241 of the high school. There is no cost for this club but space is limited. Please sign up by emailing Donna Harrington at dharrington@innovationcharter.org.
