Surviving Allergy Season-Notes from the Health Office
Spring is here! Together we can help minimize discomfort and lost class time for those who struggle with seasonal allergies. Here are some tips/requests from the Health Office: 1. The Health Office does not stock allergy medications. Please administer allergy medications at home. You are welcome to bring in allergy medications to be left in the Health Office. Please remember that students are not allowed to carry medications themselves: all medications must be administered through the Health Office. 2. Most healthcare providers recommend that you begin taking your daily allergy medication early in the season before pollen counts peak and before symptoms start. 3. We advise students go into the bathroom and wash their hands and face when returning into the building after recess/Challenge/PE class. This helps remove pollen from hands and arms, reducing eye and nose exposure. Please help reinforce this practice by reminding your children. 4. Taking nightly showers helps remove pollen from hair and skin and can really make a difference, sometimes more than one shower a day is needed. 5. Minimize exposure to the early morning, high pollen count by keeping car windows and vents closed on the ride into school. |
