Dear Innovation Academy Community,

Welcome Back! Now that school is underway, I thought I’d take a moment and write to you with an overview of the exciting year we have ahead of us at Innovation Academy! First, it has been such a wonderful start to the school year, with two superbly attended ice cream socials and, with the first week of school, many opportunities for team building and new beginnings.

As many of you likely know, this will be our 15^{th year as a school and we’re all excited to celebrate this milestone with some exciting events – the first of which will be our first ever Fall Festival, planned for Saturday, October 23rd, here at IACS from 11 am to 3 pm. More details will follow about the activities for the day, but if you’re interested in helping out, please contact me directly and I’ll let you know how you can get involved.}

This year, we’ll also undergo our 3rd ever charter renewal process. This process, conducted every five years by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education begins with a three-day school site visit in early October, and culminates in our charter renewal sometime during the Spring. The charter renewal process is a large part of what makes being a charter school so special. We are confident that our renewal will be a successful one and look forward to hearing what our visitors will have to say!

Perhaps the most exciting event we have to look forward to this year is the graduation of our first 12th grade class of students! As the year presses on, we’ll all be excited to keep track of our students’ plans after Innovation as they apply to college.

Over the past 15 years, Innovation Academy has accomplished so much. We’ve grown from 150 to 600 students, we’ve expanded to include a high school program and we’ve secured a beautiful campus that should sustain the school for the long term. I look forward to the work we have ahead of us in the coming year and the years to come to further improve upon this wonderful school.
